RE: Things to do & See @ Niagra Falls

well you picked a great campground to stay at. Four mile creek is one of the top NYS campgrounds; clean well managed and great sites. If possible stay on the lake front; great views of Toronto.
Nice family restaurants close by; Rays and Johnston's. Also consider the Wilson boat house for great dining.

RE: Cold water supply leak

When removing similar fasteners I use a dremel tool with abrasive wheel.
Simply cut the crimped band without damaging the tubing.
Use the new PEX system to replace the parts. The crimp tool can be rented.

RE: Broke a Winegard Antenna..... Again !!

Wire in a switch that flags the driver with red LED and beeper. Energizes when antenna off of rest position, and ignition on.
Took about 1/2 hour to install and has saved my antenna several times.
Also, connected beeper to transmission backup switch after backing into wifes civic.

RE: Questions on older Class A for first timer

Sounds like a good buy.
I bought a 1972 dodge and have several suggestions; carefully check all the appliances by running them for several hours. My seller convinced me the intermittent operation was simply due to not being used for a while. Turned out ALL appliances were broken down and needed repair. Spent hundreds of hoursdoing all the "little" repairs. Repainted the entire RV, installed many updated features etc. Had to rewire the low voltage system and dashboard.
If you are handy;and want to spend the time go for it but if you will have to hire to have work done, be careful.

RE: temp drop over evap coil

Most mobile A/C systems measure the input air to the evaporator and the output air
Generally they specify full speed blower operation.
I just finished my honda van A/C unit and it dropped the out put air by 21 degrees.

RE: Domestic drilling?

Locally owned refineries were bought by big oil and quickly demolished. Somewhere I read that big oil intentionally removed refineries nationwide so they could control supply.

check to see if there is a propane detector. Sometimes there is an automatic shut off associated with the detector. It may require a reset.

RE: Window felt seals wore

On my 72 Superior, I removed all the old felt.
Then picked up a tube of flexible silastic. Partially filled the slot and covered with waxed paper or plastic wrap. closed the window tight and left the caulk to set up. Then remove the wax paper or plastic wrap and the window will seal nicely, with no rattles or leakage. Clean the excess caulk with a sharp blade.
Not as neat as replacing the felt but it works, at a reasonable cost.

RE: Updateing to LED lights

All my external lights are now LED. Much brighter, and less energy use.
Internally I still use incandescent.
Some of my dashboard lights have been converted to LED as well.

RE: What about working in State / Fed parks?

Most are volunteer positions with a fixed time.
I volunteer in NYS parks several times a year, for 2 week commitments. Site hookups with electric only.
The work is fun and very relaxed. Meeting new people is a great side benefit.

RE: Letchworth SP

When I camp there I use site 121, its reasonably flat, convenient to shelters and campground store.
There is a water outlet across the road for ease of tank filling.
have fun there, lots to do.
Try to attend the local farmers market weekends in the town. Some of the best honey in the east coast.

RE: Wood Treatment

Try Danish oil. its a mixture of linseed and polymers. Seals the wood and hardens the surface.
Make sure you coat all sides of the piece. For doors, remove them and literally soak them.
Wipe the excess off after 10-15 minutes.
Daughters hand made tea cart cracked because I forgot to coat the bottom.

RE: Camping near Niagara Falls

Four Mile creek does not have full hookups. But for a really memorable stay its the best. Minutes from the falls, it offers super clean, large, well maintained sites. Some sites overlook Lake Ontario.
Lots to do close by as well.

RE: How do I stop the wind from coming through the Dash & Door ?

On my old RV had similar problem; found the entire front assembly broken loose; rivets all popped and a gap formed. Took the trim off, drilled out the broken rivets and installed new steel rivets. Applied 3m 5200 on seams. Solved the air leak problem.
Pick up a non contact IR thermometer and scan the front while someone is driving.
Will likely find the leaks fast.

RE: mashed potatoes

Boil the potatoes with the skin on; peel them mash with hand masher.
A little butter and hot milk make the dish creamy.
And the wasabi paste adds the best flavor.
Also try boiling in chicken stock.

RE: favorite desserts for a Christmas dinner get-together

French silk chocolate pie is traditional here.
Serve very thin slices; its rich. And use the pasteurized eggs, its safer.

RE: Niagra Falls camping suggestions?

I like Four Mile Creek State Park, about 10 minutes from the falls. Large wooded sites overlooking lake Ontario. Well managed, the campground offers amenities for family and sportsmen. Clean, quiet and convienient.
